Day 1: Arrival in Guatemala - Panajachel, gateway to the most beautiful lake in Central America
Welcome to Guatemala, a land of volcanoes, ancestral traditions, and picture-postcard landscapes. After arriving in Guatemala City, we'll begin our journey into the country's highlands, traversing breathtaking mountain scenery and small villages where Mayan culture remains a vibrant part of daily life.
Our destination will be Panajachel, a charming town located on the shores of the legendary Lake Atitlán, considered by many travelers to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Surrounded by majestic volcanoes and colorful indigenous villages, this corner of Guatemala captivates from the very first moment.
Upon arrival, we'll settle into our cozy hotel and have time to soak up the unique atmosphere of the place. We can stroll through its streets lined with handicrafts, discover the flavors of the local cuisine, or simply relax and admire the spectacular views of the lake as the sun sets behind the volcanoes.

Day 2: The Lake of Legends - an unforgettable day in Atitlán
After breakfast, we'll head to the dock to begin one of the most fascinating experiences of our trip to Guatemala. Aboard a private boat, we'll sail across the waters of the legendary Lake Atitlán, considered by many to be the most beautiful lake in the world. Surrounded by imposing volcanoes and colorful indigenous villages, this place possesses a magical atmosphere that captivates every traveler.
According to ancient Mayan legends, beneath its waters lies the mysterious city of Samabaj, known as the "Mayan Atlantis," an ancient ceremonial settlement that disappeared into the depths of the lake centuries ago.
During our cruise, we'll discover some of the region's most authentic villages, where ancestral traditions remain an integral part of daily life. We'll stroll through narrow, colorful streets, visit artisan markets, and learn about the work of master craftspeople who handcraft Guatemala's renowned textiles, recognized as some of the most beautiful in Latin America.
Throughout the journey, we'll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Atitlán, Tolimán, and San Pedro volcanoes, whose peaks are reflected in the tranquil waters of the lake, creating landscapes of extraordinary beauty. In the afternoon we will return to Panajachel, where we will have free time to stroll through its lively streets, enjoy its cafes and terraces overlooking the lake, or look for a special souvenir of this unforgettable day in the heart of Guatemala.
Day 3: Chichicastenango - where the Mayan soul lives on
Today we will delve into one of the most fascinating and authentic places in Guatemala: Chichicastenango, an indigenous city where time seems to have stopped and where ancient Mayan traditions continue to be part of daily life.
Every Thursday and Sunday, the city streets come alive with one of the most famous, colorful, and impressive indigenous markets in all of Latin America. Thousands of vendors arrive from the surrounding mountains to offer handcrafted textiles, ceremonial masks, handicrafts, flowers, spices, tropical fruits, medicinal herbs, and traditional incense. Every corner is filled with colors, aromas, and sounds that transport visitors to another world.
The spiritual heart of the city is the iconic Church of Santo Tomás, built in the 16th century on the remains of an ancient Mayan temple. This place represents one of the most extraordinary examples of the syncretism between Mayan spirituality and Christian tradition. Ancestral ceremonies are still performed on its steps and inside the church, where the aromatic smoke of copal, colorful candles, prayers, and offerings create a profoundly mystical atmosphere.
During our visit, we will have the opportunity to observe how the local inhabitants, dressed in their traditional clothing, keep alive customs passed down from generation to generation. Our first stop will be Iximché, one of the ancient capitals of the Mayan world and one of Guatemala's most important archaeological sites. Surrounded by pine forests and sacred hills, we will explore ceremonial plazas, temples, and pyramids that witnessed the splendor of the Mayan civilization. Even today, this place retains a profound spiritual energy and is the setting for traditional ceremonies in which Mayan spiritual guides make offerings of flowers, copal incense, and sacred fire to honor their ancestors and the forces of nature.

Day 6: Copán: Journey to One of the Greatest Jewels of the Maya World
After breakfast, we will bid farewell to the colonial elegance of Antigua and set off on a fascinating overland journey to western Honduras. As we travel through the Guatemalan highlands, we will enjoy ever-changing scenery of majestic volcanoes, forest-covered mountains, fertile valleys, and charming villages where ancient Maya traditions remain an important part of everyday life.
Along the way, we will discover the authentic Guatemalan countryside, with its colourful local markets, agricultural plantations, and picturesque landscapes that reflect the warmth and hospitality of its people. After completing the border formalities between Guatemala and Honduras, we will continue through increasingly lush landscapes until reaching the fertile Copán Valley.
Upon arrival in Copán Ruinas, a picturesque colonial town with cobbled streets and a relaxed atmosphere, we will check in to our hotel. Surrounded by rolling hills and abundant greenery, this charming town is the gateway to one of the most remarkable Maya archaeological sites in all of Mesoamerica, renowned for its magnificent stelae, intricately carved altars, and extraordinary stone sculptures.
The remainder of the afternoon will be at leisure. Stroll through the town's historic centre, browse its artisan shops, savour the flavours of Honduran cuisine in one of its welcoming restaurants, or simply relax in preparation for tomorrow's unforgettable visit to the spectacular archaeological site of Copán.
Day 7: Copán - the jewel of the Mayan world hidden among the mountains of Honduras
Today we will discover one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in all of Mesoamerica. Nestled in a lush valley surrounded by mountains, forests, and crystal-clear rivers, Copán was one of the most sophisticated cities of the Mayan world and is considered by many archaeologists to be the true “Athens of the Mayan civilization” thanks to the extraordinary artistic quality of its sculptures and monuments.
Our visit will begin at the impressive Copán Archaeological Park, where we will explore ancient ceremonial plazas, temples, and pyramids enveloped by lush tropical vegetation. Among centuries-old trees and the songs of exotic birds, we will uncover the traces of a civilization that achieved extraordinary development in astronomy, mathematics, writing, and art.
As we continue through the site, the famous sculpted stelae, considered true masterpieces of Mayan sculpture, will appear before us. Each one tells the story of kings, priests, and ceremonies that shaped the city's destiny for centuries.
One of Copán's greatest treasures is the spectacular Hieroglyphic Stairway, the longest Mayan inscription ever discovered. Its 63 steps contain more than two thousand glyphs carved in stone, forming an immense historical chronicle that researchers continue to decipher today.
We will also visit the Acropolis, the political and ceremonial center of the ancient city, as well as the famous Ballcourt, where sport, religion, and power merged in ceremonies steeped in symbolism. Above us, we will frequently see colorful scarlet macaws, sacred birds to the ancient Maya, which still fly over the ruins today, lending a magical air to the place.
Accompanied by our local guide, we will learn about the complex Mayan worldview, a vision of the universe where the sky, the earth and the underworld were deeply connected and where every temple, plaza and monument had a spiritual meaning.
To complete the experience, we will visit the extraordinary Mayan Sculpture Museum, where we can admire impressive reproductions of original monuments, royal portraits, ceremonial masks, and a life-size reconstruction of the spectacular Rosalila Temple, one of Copán's most important archaeological discoveries.
A visit to Copán is much more than an archaeological excursion. Day 8: From the magic of Copán to the tropical waters of the Río Dulce
After waking up in the charming town of Copán Ruinas, where ancient Mayan stelae continue to tell stories of kings, priests, and gods, we will embark on a new stage of our journey that unites the legacy of the great Mesoamerican civilizations with some of the most spectacular natural landscapes in Guatemala.
As we leave the verdant mountains of Honduras behind, the landscape begins to transform. We'll travel through small rural communities, fertile valleys, vast banana plantations, and tropical fields that will accompany us for much of the journey. The route will allow us to discover authentic Central American life, observing colorful local markets, women dressed in traditional clothing, and everyday scenes that reflect the region's rich cultural heritage.
After crossing the border between Honduras and Guatemala, we will continue towards the department of Izabal, a lush region where the rainforest and the Caribbean Sea meet, creating some of the most amazing landscapes in the country.
Our destination will be the legendary Río Dulce, one of Guatemala's natural gems. This impressive river corridor connects Lake Izabal to the Caribbean Sea and winds through lush rainforests, canyons covered in vegetation, and ecosystems of extraordinary biodiversity.
The journey, which takes approximately five or six hours with several stops, becomes an experience in itself, allowing us to appreciate the constant transformation of the landscape from the Mayan mountains to the warm tropical lands of the Guatemalan Caribbean.
At the end of the afternoon we will arrive at Río Dulce, where we will be greeted by a completely different environment than the previous days: calm waters surrounded by palm trees, boats sailing slowly along the river and a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to enjoy the most authentic Caribbean of Guatemala.

Day 9: Sailing along the Rio Dulce and the Garifuna Caribbean - Flores - sunset in Yaxhá
Today's journey will take us to discover some of Guatemala's most spectacular and breathtaking landscapes. After breakfast, we'll embark on an unforgettable boat trip along the legendary Río Dulce, considered one of Central America's most beautiful natural wonders.
Little by little, we'll leave the port behind and enter a landscape of extraordinary beauty. The river winds between imposing rock walls covered in lush tropical vegetation, forming a veritable green corridor where nature displays all its splendor. Hidden waterfalls, hanging vines, mangroves, and forests that seem to descend directly to the water will appear all around us. The songs of tropical birds, the flight of herons and pelicans, and the possibility of spotting monkeys among the vegetation make the journey a truly magical experience.
During the tour we will cross the spectacular Río Dulce canyon, a place where the landscape takes on an almost mystical atmosphere and where the rainforest seems to embrace the river, forming a true natural sanctuary.
Our journey will take us to Livingston, a unique place in Guatemala. Located at the mouth of the river and accessible only by water, this small Caribbean town has a completely different identity from the rest of the country. Here, Mayan traditions coexist with the Garifuna culture, descended from Africans and indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, creating a fascinating cultural blend.
We will have time to explore its colorful streets, discover its relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the local cuisine, famous for its Caribbean flavors and dishes made with coconut and fresh seafood.
After the visit, we will return to Río Dulce, where our transportation will be waiting to take us to the Petén region, the heart of the ancient Mayan civilization. During the journey, we will travel through extensive jungle areas, lagoons, and tropical landscapes until we reach the impressive archaeological site of Yaxhá, one of the hidden gems of the Mayan world. Surrounded by jungle and the waters of Yaxhá Lagoon, this ancient city offers a unique atmosphere and spectacular views from its temples.
At sunset, we will contemplate the sunset from the top of one of its pyramids, while the endless jungle and the lagoons of Petén are tinged with golden and reddish colors, creating one of the most magical moments of the trip.
Later we will continue to Flores, a charming colonial city built on a small island in the middle of Lake Petén Itzá.

Day 10: Tikal - where the jungle whispers the stories of the Gods
After breakfast, we'll depart from Flores for one of the most breathtaking places in the Americas. After approximately an hour's drive through the lush Petén jungle, we'll arrive at Tikal, Guatemala's archaeological gem and one of the most extraordinary Mayan cities ever built.
Hidden for centuries beneath dense tropical vegetation, Tikal was one of the most powerful political, astronomical, and spiritual centers of the Mayan world. Today, its majestic temples emerge from the jungle like stone giants that have watched over the horizon for more than a thousand years.
Our exploration will begin by venturing into the heart of the national park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we hike along trails surrounded by ancient trees, we'll hear the distant roar of howler monkeys, observe tropical birds, and discover an ecosystem where nature and history coexist in perfect harmony.
Suddenly, the impressive Temple I, known as the Temple of the Great Jaguar, will appear before us—one of the most recognizable symbols of the Mayan civilization. Its imposing structures dominate the Great Plaza, the setting for ceremonies, rituals, and events that shaped the history of this legendary city.
We will continue exploring ceremonial squares, palaces, acropolises, and ancient residential complexes as our guide reveals the secrets of a civilization that achieved amazing knowledge in astronomy, mathematics, architecture, and writing.
One of the most exciting moments of the day will come when you contemplate the majestic Temple IV, the tallest structure in Tikal. From its viewpoints, you'll enjoy one of the most spectacular views in all of Central America: an endless expanse of tropical rainforest from which the silhouettes of ancient Mayan temples emerge—the very same panorama that has inspired numerous films and documentaries around the world.
Tikal is not simply an archaeological site. It is a place where history, nature, and spirituality merge, creating an atmosphere difficult to describe in words. Every stone, every path, and every temple seems to hold the echoes of a civilization that continues to fascinate travelers and archaeologists alike.
After experiencing an unforgettable time in the heart of the Mayan world, we will return to Flores, taking with us memories that will remain forever etched in our minds.
Day 11: From Petén to the Caribbean - following in the footsteps of the Maya to San Pedro Island
After breakfast, we'll bid farewell to the tranquil atmosphere of Flores and embark on a new adventure towards the Caribbean. We'll leave behind the jungles of Petén and head towards the border with Belize, a country where the language, traditions, and pace of life change, but where the Mayan heritage remains very much alive.
After clearing the border, we'll enter a landscape dominated by lush tropical vegetation, palm trees, and small communities where Mayan, Caribbean, and British influences coexist. Our first major discovery will be Xunantunich, one of Belize's most impressive archaeological sites.
To reach this ancient Mayan kingdom, we'll cross the Mopan River aboard a unique hand-operated ferry, an experience that will instantly transport us to another time. On the other side of the river rise the ruins of a city that remained hidden in the jungle for centuries.
The star attraction is the majestic El Castillo pyramid, one of the tallest Mayan structures in Belize. From its summit, you'll enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the rainforest and the mountains of Guatemala. The friezes and reliefs that decorate its facades tell stories of gods, rulers, and sacred ceremonies. According to local legends, the spirit of a mysterious woman dressed in white continues to wander the site, giving rise to the name Xunantunich, which means "Stone Woman."
After the visit, we'll continue to Belize City, the country's former capital and main gateway to the Belizean Caribbean. Its colonial wooden buildings, maritime atmosphere, and cultural mix create a very different ambiance from what we've experienced so far on our trip.
From the port, we'll board a speedboat to sail across the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. For approximately two hours, we'll enjoy breathtaking views of the coral reef, tropical islets, and intensely blue waters.
Finally, we'll arrive at San Pedro, the jewel of Ambergris Caye and one of Belize's most idyllic destinations. White sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a relaxed atmosphere will welcome us to this authentic Caribbean paradise.
After a day that combines Mayan history, lush nature and tropical landscapes, we will settle into our hotel and begin to enjoy the unmistakable rhythm of life in the Caribbean.

Day 12: Hol Chan - swimming in the Caribbean live aquarium
After breakfast, we'll prepare for one of the most spectacular experiences of the entire trip. We'll set sail for the famous Hol Chan Marine Reserve, considered one of the best places for snorkeling in the Caribbean and located next to the second largest coral reef on the planet, the impressive Mesoamerican Reef.
The name Hol Chan means "small channel" in the Mayan language, a natural opening in the reef that allows the passage of countless marine species and has given rise to one of the most extraordinary ecosystems in Belize.
After a short boat ride, we'll arrive at the reserve and dive into incredibly clear waters, accompanied by expert guides who will lead us through this fascinating underwater world. Beneath the surface unfolds a spectacular display of color and life: schools of tropical fish, corals with whimsical shapes, sea turtles, rays, and an astonishing diversity of species that make this place a true natural aquarium.
We'll swim among coral gardens inhabited by angelfish, parrotfish, moray eels, sea urchins, and numerous other creatures that find refuge in this protected ecosystem. The exceptional visibility allows us to enjoy every detail of this virtually untouched underwater world.
The adventure continues at the legendary Shark Ray Alley, one of Belize's most iconic locations. Here, we'll have the opportunity to swim alongside the famous nurse sharks and elegant manta rays as they glide peacefully underwater. Despite their impressive appearance, these species are completely harmless and offer a thrilling and safe experience that often becomes one of the most unforgettable moments of the trip.
After the activities, we'll enjoy fresh fruit and refreshing drinks on board while gazing at the endless turquoise hues of the Caribbean Sea. The gentle rocking of the boat, the sea breeze, and the idyllic scenery will make for an unforgettable day.

Day 13: From the turquoise waters of Belize to the seven-colored lagoon - Bacalar
After breakfast, we'll bid farewell to the relaxed atmosphere of San Pedro and the crystal-clear waters of the Belizean Caribbean. At the scheduled time, a taxi will transfer us to the port to board a speedboat bound for Chetumal, on the Mexican coast.
The journey will allow us to enjoy once again the stunning landscapes of the Caribbean, sailing over waters of intense turquoise hues as we leave behind the coral islands of Belize heading towards the Yucatan Peninsula.
Upon our arrival in Chetumal, the capital of the state of Quintana Roo, a private transport will be waiting to continue towards one of Mexico's best-kept secrets: Bacalar, known as the town of the famous Lagoon of Seven Colors.
During the journey, we'll observe how the Caribbean landscape gradually transforms into lush tropical vegetation until we reach this magical corner of southern Mexico. As we approach Bacalar, the stunning blue hues of the lagoon will appear before us, a true natural spectacle considered one of the most beautiful freshwater bodies on the continent.

Day 14: Bacalar, the most beautiful lagoon in Mexico - Playa del Carmen
After breakfast, we'll have time to enjoy one of Mexico's most breathtaking natural treasures. Optionally, you can participate in an unforgettable boat trip on the spectacular Bacalar Lagoon, known worldwide as the Lagoon of Seven Colors thanks to the incredible array of blue hues in its crystal-clear waters.
During this experience, we'll explore some of the lagoon's most iconic spots. We'll visit the legendary Pirates' Channel, the setting for old tales of privateers and one of the best places to swim in crystal-clear turquoise waters. We'll continue to the mysterious Black Cenote, whose depths contrast sharply with the lagoon's light hues, and discover the tranquility of Bird Island, a natural refuge for numerous species of tropical birds.
The boat trip will also take us to the stunning Cenote Esmeralda, whose intensely green waters create one of the most photogenic landscapes in the entire region. Along the way, we'll make several stops to swim, relax, and enjoy this exceptional natural setting.

Day 15: Optional excursion: Tulum and Coba, between Mayan pyramids and the tropical jungle
Discover two of the most fascinating archaeological sites on the Yucatan Peninsula on an excursion that combines history, nature and some of Mexico's most iconic landscapes.
Our first stop will be Tulum, the only Mayan city built directly on the Caribbean Sea. Perched atop impressive cliffs and surrounded by turquoise waters, Tulum was one of the most important trading ports of the Mayan civilization. During our visit, we will explore its temples, walls, and ceremonial plazas while enjoying spectacular views of the Mexican Caribbean.
We will continue to Cobá, an ancient Mayan city hidden in the heart of the jungle. Unlike other more well-known archaeological sites, Cobá retains an authentic and mysterious atmosphere. Its ancient ceremonial roads, known as sacbés, connected numerous temples and ritual complexes scattered throughout the tropical vegetation.
Here we will have the opportunity to admire the impressive pyramid of Nohoch Mul, one of the tallest in the entire Yucatan Peninsula, surrounded by lagoons and lush jungle where tropical birds and other local fauna live.
During the excursion we will also have time to enjoy the natural surroundings and learn more about the extraordinary history and astronomical knowledge of the Mayan civilization.

Day 16: Playa del Carmen - transfer to Cancun airport
